Siemens – MindSphare Dashboard

Challenge
The MindSphare from Siemens is as they state on their website; “MindSphere is the cloud-based, open IoT operating system from Siemens that connects your products, plants, systems, and machines, enabling you to harness the wealth of data generated by the Internet of Things (IoT) with advanced analytics”.

This is a massive OS and it can be a challenge to comprehend its functions and capacity. Siemens challenged JCP Digital to come up with a way that would make it “easy to understand” and “easy to show” in fair trades.

Strategy and solution
The idea is to show how the OS works in a day to day setting so everyone would understand its great potential.

Siemens wanted innovation and a simple solution that anyone could handle.

Our suggestion was to create a dashboard that shows three different settings;

  • where the OS could alert
  • the OS could inform
  • showcase its functionality

On the stand Siemens had decided to serve either coffee, ice cream or beer – which were three perfect items to showcase on the dashboard.

The dashboard were connected to a TV where anyone could follow either the coffee machine, beer dispenser or the ice cream bar. The OS monitors temperature, types of products being handed out, electricity used, number of calories and much more.

Siemens could set up certain settings in advance as for example, the temperature in the ice cream bar could get warmer, the beans for the coffee machine could run low and so on.

This dashboard is very easy to use and can be brought anywhere.

The result

  • The dashboard works brilliantly and both Siemens and JCP are really pleased with the result.
  • Siemens can now describe how the Mindsphare works in a simple and innovative way.
  • It will be used on more than 30 events in 2018 and covers Norway, Denmark and Sweden.Thanks to Siemens that allowed us to be a part of this journey.
